With the lower difficulty, we found ourselves at a loss when we cleared all the stages in Overcooked 2 with a certain ease. Unlike the first game, the stages were a lot easier, but the new dishes and the different themes made up for a lot. The Overcooked series proves to be one of the best party game franchises at the moment, and it's easy to say that we wanted more after our playthrough and online sessions of the second iteration. This time we find ourselves on the beach with the new Surf ‘n' Turf DLC, which introduces new characters, dishes and at least a dozen levels.
In terms of graphics and sound, not much has changed in this first real DLC (not counting the Too Many Cooks DLC, which only provided you with some extra chefs). We find ourselves in a beach setting in all the levels, thus water will be a hazard at times, and a few new items are introduced, such as a spiffy looking grill for kebabs, shakers for smoothies, and a water pistol to clean our dishes (please don't do this when you work at a restaurant). The new chefs are all in tune with the beach theme and everything feels like a proper whole.
There's more content to be found in this DLC than the first DLC of the first Overcooked. You'll get at least twelve normal levels to play through and there's also a Kevin (secret) level, which adds a bit of extra fun. All the levels follow the same theme, but of course there are new hazards and shifting work benches to be found, which makes sure you're never at ease. The new dishes are all fun to work with, and there are also slight variations of the existing burger dishes, giving them their time in the limelight as well.
It's easy to say that the difficulty level has been cranked up several notches in this DLC. Where the base game was a breeze to get through, the DLC is a lot harder, especially if you're aiming for that elusive third star rating. Some levels are very manageable to clear with two players, when you have a decent coordination, but others feel like they were designed for three or more players, as the score cap doesn't increase with more players. Nonetheless, we loved the extra challenge, but we felt that the early levels were the hardest, making it a slight anti-climax when playing through the last few levels.
Conclusion
Overcooked 2's Surf ‘n' Turf DLC proved to be a lot of fun, especially with the addition of the new dishes and the fairly expansive new map that gave us enough levels to plow through. The added difficulty factor made it harder for us to plow through easily, which then again created some extra challenge, which granted us more replay value. If you love the series, and you thought the base game of Overcooked 2 was a tad too easy, you'll certainly love the amped up difficulty level in this one.

Overcooked 2's Surf ‘n' Turf DLC proved to be a lot of fun, especially with the addition of the new dishes and the fairly expansive new map that gave us enough levels to plow through. The added difficulty factor made it harder for us to plow through easily, which then again created some extra challenge, which granted us more replay value. If you love the series, and you thought the base game of Overcooked 2 was a tad too easy, you'll certainly love the amped up difficulty level in this one.
